Shepherd’s Field – where the birth of Jesus was announced and where we live

We live here.  Beit Sahour, Palestine, located in the West Bank, about 7 miles south of Jerusalem and about a mile east of Bethlehem.  This is where the angels announced the birth of Jesus to the Shepherd’s watching their flocks.  Three of my children were born in the Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, less than a mile from where Jesus was born.  We have lived in the Holy Land on and off since 2003.  It has allowed us great opportunity to travel the world and this area.

The HerodianCurrently we live in the Old City of Beit Sahour.  Everything is within 1/2 mile from my door.  Everything.  There is nothing you need that you cannot get in that 1/2 mile.  Filter for your water?  Bam.  Fruit, veggies, grocery, seamstress, hardward, gardening/plants, salon, atm, fresh fish, clothes, office supply, shoes, house hold goods… I bet you can’t think of something that I can’t get within that 1/2 mile.  Try me.

My balcony overlooks the Judean foothills and the Herodian.  The Herodian was one of Herod the Great’s fortresses.  There is so much history here.  I love living here.
