Green Hummus

Green Hummus

Ok, actually this is NOT green hummus as hummus is made from ground chickpeas and olive oil and such… these are green chickpeas, but in Arabic they say green hummus.  So green hummus it is.  This is VERY popular in the Middle East, or at least this region.  It would seem obvious as hummus is a staple in every household.  Hummus is to the Middle East as mayonnaise is to Americans.

Back to green hummus… these are eaten just plain.  They buy them in bulk and munch on them whenever.  You peal the outer layer and eat the green chickpea inside.  I love hummus, dislike ripe chickpeas and love the green chickpeas.  I’m a believer!  There are other ways to prepare green hummus but I won’t go into detail.  If you ever get a chance to have them, by all means, try them!  Grean chickpea in hand

In the words of Dr. Seuss…

Sam!
If you will let me be,
I will try them.
You will see.

Say!
I like green eggs and ham!
I do!! I like them, Sam-I-am!
And I would eat them in a boat!
And I would eat them with a goat…
And I will eat them in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
They are so good so good you see!

So I will eat them in a box.
And I will eat them with a fox.
And I will eat them in a house.
And I will eat them with a mouse.
And I will eat them here and there.
Say! I will eat them ANYWHERE!

I do so like
green eggs and ham!
Thank you!
Thank you,
Sam-I-am
